What is Ten Tiny Dances®?

An experiment in confined space, Ten Tiny Dances® is a performance series dedicated to fostering inventive performance art and providing an accessible dance experience for a diverse audience all on a 4 by 4 foot stage.

History

Ten Tiny Dances® was created in Portland, Oregon in 2002 and continues to be produced by founder Mike Barber and others, with permission.

New Vision Dance Company first produced Ten Tiny Dances® in 2018 featuring pieces from different dancers and companies all over central Ohio. The event was so successful, it was repeated again the following year. Another production was already in the works in 2020 when it was unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic.

After a few years hiatus, Ten Tiny Dances® was brought back as part of the New Albany Dance Festival in 2025 due to high demand. This event presents an inspiring challenge for dancers and choreographers while also providing a unique viewing experience for audience members.
